Intake
Prior to your first meeting with your therapist
Our administrative assistant from Cultural Family Therapy will contact you via phone or email to gather information on your insurance, services you are looking for, availability, specific type of therapist or therapy modalities you would like to work with. Once that is gathered, you will receive an intake packet through email. Once that is filled out (takes about 20min) and insurance is verified by our staff (takes about a week), you will receive a confirmation email to confirm your first meeting, insurance, therapist and you are good to start services after that.
What to expect
in your first meeting.
Initial session
a clinical assessment
This first session can range from 45-90 minutes in which you will meet with a therapist in a confidential setting (office or via video/telehealth). A clinical assessment consists of the therapist asking questions regarding the reason for bringing you to therapy, mood levels, coping skills, consenting to services, services provided during the session, office policies, support systems, scheduling, and anything you may want to work on or goals you have for therapy. Every session after that is 45-60 min once a week or bi-weekly depending on your needs and your insurance or private pay/out of pocket. The therapist will then develop a diagnosis and treatment plan (reviewed in the second meeting with your therapist) and therapy will start.
